Prestwich Clough Wooden Sculptures
We are excited to announce that Prestwich Forest Park has secured a Parklife Grant of £1080, that will be used to purchase two wooden (chain saw) sculptures that will be installed at different locations in the Clough.
We hope ideally to have a wooden owl and potentially either a bear or a squirrel sculpture installed in the Clough.
Furthermore Friends of Warwick Street Green will also be installing a wooden fox sculpture as part of their community garden.
We will be commissioning the sculptures from ‘Mike Burgess – Chain Saw Artist’ https://mbchainsaw-art.co.uk/ who is a local sculptor and has installations in other local Manchester parks and schools.
The original wooden sculpture was a focal feature of Prestwich Clough; was carved as the face of a wooden man onto a ‘poplar’ tree in 2005; but has deteriorated and now collapsed.
